Even though the days of lifetime employment at a single company are long gone, retaining your employees still pays off.

Studies show that the cost of replacing an entry-level employee can be up to 40% of that employee's salary (that's $30,000 to replace someone making $75,000). Changes that drive employee retention up can actually come from the top down — from the leaders at the company showing that they're committed to employees.

San Francisco-based HR firm Achievers came up with 10 of the most common ways managers alienate their employees and explained how you can avoid the same mistakes.
