Once upon a time, not very long ago, it used to be considered really embarrassing to engage in online dating. If you were to have actually met your partner online or from a dating application, you would probably start sweating, stuttering, and try to find another explanation when someone would ask you how the two of you guys met. Even if you were super happy with your partner, for some reason you probably would feel as though as your story was lacking romance. You might also feel as though you seemed way to desperate to find someone.
[post_ads]But truth be told, the way you and your partner met could not matter any less. What truly matters is that we found someone that we are compatible with and that we fell in love with. And unfortunately, everyone is much too obsessed with their romance stories. Perhaps this is due to fairytales that we hear through our childhoods, but not every love story has to be a fairytale. How a relationship began is not necessarily a reflection of the nature of the relationship. Today, however, this concept is becoming more and more socially acceptable. For example, there is a very cute Instagram account called The Way We Met, which features pictures and stories of real life couples with interesting, yet not traditional stories of how they met their partner.
Nowadays, perhaps since people are working harder and are much busier, it is much harder to find your true love magically on the street. In some cases, it of course, still happens, but much less. It is very difficult to have the same love story that your parents and grandparents had, as beautiful as it probably was. Online dating offers options to meet all kinds of people in a much easier way, and offers many more options. In today’s day in age, we now decide to go out with people based on their height and age description on their dating profile, which of course, can often feel less than magical.

A while ago, it would actually be considered embarrassing to tell people you met your boyfriend at a bar. But today, things have seriously changed, and a bar seems much more legitimate than meeting someone on Tinder. And this is just an example of how things are really changing and advancing in dating society. By the time you tell your grandchildren your love story, dating applications will probably become so normal, and incredibly romantic as well, just like bar’s eventually become a more acceptable meeting place.

It’s also important to note that a story is all about how you tell it. So if you tell your love story with great passion and excitement, rather than embarrassment, then it will, of course, come off as a wonderful story. As our society starts to become increasingly real, we are also starting to accept ourselves more as well and the reality at hand. And that’s why online dating went from being embarrassing to being cool. Keep the trend up folks.
