Hands up who would like to be able to come out of college with a degree and no debt? Yeah, we thought so. Pretty much everyone we know would love to be able to balance school work and money-making work, while still being able to party like it’s 1999. So, what if we told you that you could? It’s all about the freelance writing as a student. Let us explain.
Whenever, Wherever
[post_ads]In the words of Shakira, you can literally freelance write “Whenever, Wherever.” As long as you’ve got some kind of technology to work from (even a tablet does the job) then you’re ready to go. You can type up some blog posts on the train into uni. You could type out a few product descriptions in between your lecture and hitting the clubs. Whenever you have some spare time, you can write. What could be more liberating than that? No having to get up extra early to go and work in some coffee shop, filled with screaming babies and yummy mommies. No missing out on all the parties because you’re working in the club. You can literally work whenever you want – and wherever it suits you.Splash the Cash
While you may not be making a small fortune at the beginning of your writing career, it won’t take you long to build up a good base of clients. As you get better at your job, you’ll be able to charge more for your services. We know some people who have gone from a couple of dollars per 100 words up to hundreds of dollars for short articles. You have two choices when it comes to making money. You either learn how to write extremely quickly and focus on getting in as much work as possible. Or, you spend time building up a portfolio and bringing in the big bucks per job. It’s up to you which route you want to go down, but both mean you’ll be able to splash the cash fairly soon. This means less worrying about your student debt and more paying back mom and dad for all those bailouts.Being Your Own Boss
There is nothing more liberating than being your own boss, especially at college or university. While everyone else is complaining about their strict/weird/boring boss, you’ll be laughing at their sheer misfortune. Being your own boss will also set you up for a lot of exciting things in the future. You’ll learn how to become more self-motivated, how to balance different aspects of your life, and how to get things done! This will then reflect positively in your student life and adult life, later down the line. It’s like a win-win situation. Not only that, but employers will positively drool when they see your resume. You’ve already built up a business, from scratch, while studying? That’s some pretty impressive stuff, future Mark Zuckerberg. Potential employers will be chomping at the bit, in order to get you to join them. You’ll be working in Silicon Valley in no time![post_ads_2]
As long as you can write – which as a student is pretty important – then you can start your career as a freelance writer. No more early morning wakeup calls for work, no more missing out on fun parties. No more bosses telling you what to do and no more worrying about student debt. You’ll end up with a ton of life skills and an impressive resume to boot. Plus, if you get good, plenty of extra money in your back pocket. Now tell us, what could be any more liberating than all of that?!
