For many college students, life after graduation is a very scary thought. Like most people, we tend to send scary thoughts to the back of our minds. They don’t normally make for pleasant days. But when it comes time for the middle of senior year, we start to notice our friends finding good jobs at companies like Google, Microsoft, and Goldman Sachs and we start to get nervous. Please don’t be afraid, here is a lot of stuff that no one will tell you about life after graduation.
[post_ads]Like most people, getting a job is probably the most important thing that needs to happen before you go about your life. Unfortunately, the job market isn’t very good. It could be a lot worse, but many people are going to be either unemployed or working in jobs that they hate, right after they graduate from college. To make matters worse, many of your parents still feel that a college degree means that you will have an automatic ticket to a great future, sadly this is no longer the case, and there still is a lot of luck involved. I myself bartended, and worked construction for a few months before I got on my feet. Just make sure to stick in it; it’ll be worth it in the long run.
Another thing that no one will tell you is that if you really want to be successful, you absolutely need to get away from your comfort zone. You don’t need to move halfway across the world, like I did, a move from one neighborhood to another one is enough for most people but just remember, progress can only be achieved by doing stuff that you’d normally be afraid of. If you’ve never been outside the United States before, maybe you should get a backpack and travel, if you’ve lived with your parents your whole life, perhaps its time to move to the big city, and get a job. At the end of the day, while you may not be happy with the outcome, you’ll still be proud of yourself for taking the plunge. It’s a lot easier than you think it is.
